NEWS Mayer Motorsports is Newest
Rocket Kart Distributor LIVERMORE, Calif., June 17, 2003 -- Mayer Motorsports Inc., (MMI) a leading northern California karting shop, has signed an agreement with Russell Karting Specialites to sell, service and support the entire line of Italian-pedigreed Rocket Kart chassis and popular race-ready engine packages. MMI is now the exclusive west coast distributor.
MMI chose to distribute Rocket Karts after an extensive search for a chassis manufacturer and importer that would best suit its customer base and ongoing mission to support the needs of the local karting community. MMI Rocket Karts feature 2003 CIK bodywork designed by Righetti Ridolfi, distinctive blue anodized components, a Rocket logo embossed steering wheel and a custom Team MMI wrap-around graphics kit.
Rocket Kart models range from baby karts to top-of-the-line shifter karts. Models include the Stage 1 baby kart, Stage 2 cadet kart, 4T four-cycle kart, and four models designed to perform within specific class regulations, including the RK1-100, RK1-125, RK2-100, and RK2-125. The RK1 and RK2 chassis are equipped with shift linkage attachments on the steering uprights that can accommodate 80cc, 125cc and 250cc engine packages. The RK1 is a 30mm chassis with a 32mm front axle. The RK2 is a 32mm kart with a removable left-hand side fourth rail. RK1 karts are optimized for club racers with specific tire rules. RK2 karts are for racers who race in soft tire classes. All models are available with the option of a 40mm or 50mm axle, cast iron or aluminum/ceramic rotors, and aluminum or magnesium wheels. MMI currently has the complete line of Rocket Karts in stock and available for immediate delivery.
Rocket Karts are manufactured to the highest production standards in the industry, said Bill Mayer, president and CEO of Mayer Motorsports. They have benefited from extensive research and development to provide amateur to advanced racers with an affordable tunable chassis that offers the best in versatility and performance. Many of the Rocket Karts components are interchangeable with other Italian designed karts from manufacturers such as Birel, which offers racers an opportunity for a wider range of custom upgrades and replacement parts.
Its great to see MMI helping to launch local race drivers into karting with the right stuff, said Dutch Indy Car driver Arie Luyendyk, who is best known for his sensational 1990 and 1997 Indianapolis 500 victories. The best aspect of karting is that its accessible for all types of racers, whether youre chasing a racing career or just having fun. My son and I still use our Team MMI shifter karts to keep our skills finely tuned. We truly enjoy the pure form of racing that karting offers.
The Rocket Kart is really the culmination of more than 40-years experience in designing karts to perform on American tracks, said Jim Russell, Jr., vice president of Russell Karting Specialties. Its the same research and input that helped us make the American version of the Birel R chassis so successful in earlier racing. And now weve packaged that experience it into an affordable chassis thats purpose-built to dominate at the highest levels of todays competition. Coupled with MMIs set-up and race-day support, its an unbeatable combination.
MMI plans an extensive print ad campaign and website redesign to help launch its new line of karts and Rocket Kart accessories, which include the stylish silver and blue Rocket Kart-branded drivers suit.
